Advanced Excel meets AI-assisted work
This 2-day Advanced Excel Training in Kuala Lumpur is designed for professionals who already work confidently in Excel and want to combine advanced spreadsheet techniques with AI assistants to work faster and make better-informed decisions.
Day 1 strengthens advanced Excel skills including XLOOKUP, dynamic arrays, What-If Analysis and Power Pivot, with AI introduced alongside practical exercises. Day 2 focuses on AI-assisted Excel workflows using primarily Microsoft Copilot and Claude.ai to generate formulas from plain language, analyse data, debug complex worksheets and build better reports.

Who should attend this Advanced Excel training?
This program is designed for executives, analysts, finance and accounts professionals, and experienced Excel users who are already comfortable with intermediate formulas, PivotTables and formatting – and who want to advance both their technical Excel skills and their ability to use AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot and Claude.ai for daily reporting and decision-making.
No prior AI experience is required.
Class is capped at 10 participants so everyone gets hands-on practice and direct support throughout the program.
What you will be able to do after 2 days
- Apply advanced lookup functions including INDEX-MATCH, XLOOKUP and XMATCH, and dynamic array functions including FILTER, SORT, UNIQUE and SEQUENCE
- Use Goal Seek, Data Tables and Scenario Manager to model business decisions
- Build a basic Power Pivot Data Model with relationships across multiple tables
- Use Microsoft Copilot in Excel to generate formulas, summarise data and suggest charts using natural language
- Use Claude.ai to explain, debug and generate formulas and VBA macros, and analyse uploaded datasets for insights
- Write effective prompts for spreadsheet tasks using the Role-Task-Content framework
- Critically review and validate AI-generated formulas and insights before applying them to real reports
- Produce an AI-assisted management report combining advanced Excel techniques with Copilot and Claude.ai
Advanced Excel with AI program agenda
Day 1 – Advanced Excel Core Skills
Build the technical Excel foundation that the AI-assisted workflows will use throughout the program.
- Advanced Lookup & Reference Functions: INDEX-MATCH for flexible two-way lookups; XLOOKUP for modern lookups; XMATCH and multi-condition lookups; troubleshooting #N/A and reference errors
- Dynamic Arrays & Modern Functions: FILTER for conditional extraction; SORT and SORTBY; UNIQUE for de-duplication; SEQUENCE and spill ranges; building self-updating summary lists
- What-If Analysis & Decision Tools: Goal Seek for single-variable targets; Data Tables for one- and two-variable scenarios; Scenario Manager for comparing outcomes; sensitivity analysis for budgeting and forecasting
- Power Pivot & Data Model Basics: importing tables into the Data Model; creating relationships between tables; building basic DAX measures; and creating cross-table PivotTables beyond a single worksheet
AI tools are introduced alongside the Day 1 exercises so participants can compare traditional Excel methods with AI-assisted approaches while still understanding the underlying Excel logic.
Day 2 – AI-Powered Excel with Copilot & Claude.ai
- AI in Spreadsheets – The New Landscape: understand how AI is changing spreadsheet work and where Microsoft Copilot and Claude.ai fit into practical Excel workflows
- Microsoft Copilot in Excel: generate formulas using natural language, summarise data, identify trends and get suggestions for charts and PivotTables
- Smarter Formulas with Claude.ai: explain, debug and rewrite complex formulas; generate XLOOKUP, array and nested formulas from plain English; and draft VBA macros for repetitive tasks
- AI-Assisted Data Analysis: analyse uploaded datasets for patterns and anomalies and compare AI-generated insights with manual Excel and PivotTable analysis
- Prompt Writing for Spreadsheet Tasks: use the Role-Task-Content framework to create better prompts for formulas, summaries, insights and reporting while learning how to validate AI-generated output
- Capstone – AI-Assisted Management Report: combine advanced formulas, Power Pivot and AI prompts in a hands-on lab to produce an AI-assisted management report, followed by a group walkthrough and Q&A
Hands-on Advanced Excel training
Each day runs 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Lunch and refreshments are provided.
Bring your laptop with Microsoft Excel installed. The program combines trainer-led demonstrations with hands-on practice using real business datasets, with Q&A and troubleshooting throughout the sessions.
Each participant receives a step-by-step lab workbook and AI prompt library to take away and use after the training.
